Founded in 1962, the Museum of New Mexico Foundation (MNMF) is the private, non-profit organization that supports the Museum of New Mexico's four state museums in Santa Fe, seven historic sites statewide and Office of Archaeological Studies through fund development for exhibitions and education programs, financial management and advocacy. In addition to operating a licensing program on behalf of the Museum of New Mexico, the MNMF also manages a membership program of over 13,000 members and five museum shops. Established in 1998, the Foundation's licensing program forms creative partnerships with manufacturers who draw inspiration from the thousands of cultural artifacts held in our museums to develop unique and stylish products. In exchange for access to the collections for design inspiration and use of the museums’ name in marketing the product, the manufacturers pay the Foundation a royalty or percentage of the wholesale price of every object sold. Revenues generated from this entrepreneurial program provide much needed financial support to the Museum of New Mexico system.
