The Transformative Power of Place

The goal of the Summit conversation is to inspire designers to engage more deeply with cultural material as a source of inspiration and to take a fresh look at how place can reveal new directions in color and design.

Included in the Summit activities is a tour of the 30,0000-piece world class textile and ethnographic dress collection at the Museum of International Folk Art.This extraordinary space is closed to the public so this tour affords you an exclusive opportunity to see textiles, clothing and objects rarely on view. When not on tour of the textile collection Summit guests can engage in hands on activities, see the Vitra Design Museum-based exhibition: Alexander Girard: A Designer’s Universe, or enjoy artisan demonstrations.

MUSEUM DESIGN SUMMIT TICKETS are $495 per person and include:

  • Admission to the seven engaging speaker presentations

  • A hands-on and artist workshop

  • Behind the scenes tour of the 30,000 piece ethnographic textile and dress collection normally closed to the public

  • Complimentary on-site lunch on Thursday, July 11

  • Complimentary Dinner, Dancing and Networking Party (no-host bar)

Summit Guests are encouraged to stay on through the weekend to enjoy the festivities, shopping and music at the world renown International Folk Art Market that commences Friday night, July 12th and runs through Sunday, July 14th. Tickets to the Friday night gala event are $225 and early bird tickets for Saturday morning, July 13th are $80. Regular admission is $20. Tickets go on sale May 1st.
